FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A CONSORTIUM?

A consortium is a group of individuals who pool resources to achieve a common goal. Commissioning new music for students is expensive, and often not sustainable for teachers. Also, composers benefit greatly from having works performed by groups of people rather than single commissioners or studios. Modelled after Flute New Music Consortium, Cello Teaching Repertoire Consortium is a sustainable model for commissioning new music for cello students by expert string players on a yearly basis.
